This year 2021 is the A112 Abarth 50th Anniversary. It was born in 1972 and it was immediately love.
It was produced by Autobianchi, with 8 series from 1969 to 1986.
The official debut was at the Turin Motor Show in 1969. The car, in very short time, became a real object of desires for its pleasant shapes, for its low purchase and maintenance costs.
Length 3.23m. Width 1.48m. Height 1.36m. Thanks to a low weight of only 670kg it managed to suprise in terms of driving and performance with all its different versions: Elegant, Elite, LX, Junior and Abarth.
The latter one, the most iconic of the series, was available in different colours including red, electric blue and bright green. In addition to the striking Rosso Corsa livery contrasted by the matt black bonnet and skirts. The most important difference with the standard A112 was the engine, which was strongly revised directly by Abarth. The engine power, which had already exceeded the 60HP in the prototyping phase, was limited 58 to achieve the expected levels of elasticity and strength. In the latest and most powerful evolution, the car was fitted with a 70 HP 1049cm3 4-cylinder engine. On Quattroruote the road test by the Formula 1 driver Arturo Merzario was very nice, boasting the sporting qualities of the engine.
